First and foremost, thank you to all of the families that attended Parent Orientation on Thursday, August 16. I certainly enjoyed seeing and meeting everyone and having you learn what your child will be doing in 3rd Grade this year!!!
It is hot outside! We have been very fortunate to be able to go outside as much as we have been, but we are still facing hot temperatures so we have been inside this week. The students have been doing a great job with their water bottles! Keep up the good work!
It has been a wonderful start to the year. The students are settling in and learning the classroom expectations. I am getting to know your children and their strengths! The one behavior reminder I have is interrupting and the quickness to stop talking when a quiet signal is given. We are working very hard on this, but I have had several students sign the behavior book due to talking and just being silly without thinking. Please take a moment to review with your child that when a quiet signal is given, it means to be quiet:)))
This is what is happening in the classroom:
Reading: The Day Eddie Met the Author and the test is on Friday along with the vocabulary piece. You should have seen this on Tuesday in the green folder. Next week we are reading Babe and I.
Writing: Completing Short Notes about Summer and Super Sentences.
Spelling and Grammar: Spelling Tests are on Thursday. Grammar content is commands and exclamations then moving on to common and proper nouns next week.
Social Studies: Landforms and Landform Dictionaries
Math: Completing Chapter 1 which is on Place Value. The test will be next week, most likely toward the end of the week. Then we move into Comparing Numbers and Greater than or less than.
One last thing...I am gathering the Room Parent volunteers this week and will be sending out an email for the volunteer meeting on August 28th or August 31. Once this is done and I meet with these wonderful parents, I will then publish a parent helper schedule for the classroom.
I will be posting some wish list items this week so if you are interested in donating let your child know and they can bring a post it note home! Thank you to those parents who have donated so far, I can't tell you how much I appreciate the support!
Have a great week!
